Hair Today, Try Tomorrow: Your 5-Minute Tip

I got a trim and a tip this weekend from my fabulous hairdresser (love a man that makes me look good): How many hair products are you loading in your locks right now? Gel? Mousse? Straightening cream? Avoid product overload – and the shine-stealing affect it has on hair – by pre-mixing these products in your palm first, then applying. You’ll use less, and in most cases, hair stylist Troy assures me that less is what most gals out there need to use.

The only exception? Smoothing serum, which should be the last touch. You’ll need just a dime-sized squirt if you’ve got fine hair, or a quarter if it’s coarse. Troy suggests concentrating on the tips and the little hairs around your part and hairline.

Take a look at the other trends, then tell us: does matte polish suddenly seem not-so-scary?
